A trip from Ooty to Avalanche is just a 26 km drive across sylvan surroundings. To the south - west of Ooty, on the way to Upper Bhavani, lies this beautiful village, Avalanche, which derives its name from an avalanche or landslide in 1823. The scenic path meanders through the emerald camp and provides a magnificent view of the Avalanche valley and the dam.
The journey from Ooty to Avalanche takes one to a picturesque spot centered around a lake. The sparkling water of Avalanche lake is wedged between a dense woodland of shola trees.
