Dudhsagar Falls is amongst India's tallest waterfalls with a height of 310 m (1017 feet) and an average width of 30 meters (100 feet). These waterfalls are located near the Goa-Karnataka border. The name ‘Dudhsagar’ literally translates to ‘sea of milk’ which many believe is an allusion to the white spray and foam that the great waterfall creates as it cascades into the waters of the lake. The falls are at their zenith during the monsoon season, although they are a popular attraction all year round. This waterfall is located in the Sanguem Taluka of Goa, and falls into the jurisdiction of the Goa Forest departments since it is a part of the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. The Dudhsagar waterfall measures an impressive 310 m (1017 ft)in height and about 100 ft in width. It is 60 km from Panaji by road and is located on the Madgaon-Belgaumrail route about 46 km east of Madgaon and 80 km south of Belgaum. This water fall is also known as Tambdi Surla to some of the local peoples. The area around the falls is forested and falls into the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife sanctuary. From September to May, the tours often suggest making the trip an all-day affair with a picnic lunch surrounded by the natural beauty of the falls.
